CVE-2026-73696: Authentication Bypass in Control Web Panel
Authentication bypass in CWP before 1.12 allows unauthenticated access to the panel. CVSS 9.1 critical.

CVE-2026-73696 describes an 'execution after redirect' vulnerability in the user panel authentication flow of Control Web Panel (CWP). The flaw allows unauthenticated users to bypass the authentication mechanism by exploiting a missing exit() call following a header('Location: ...') redirect. When redirection does not terminate script execution, attackers can send requests that continue PHP execution past the redirect point, reaching panel functionality that should be protected by authentication.
The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 9.1, classified as critical. It was published in the NVD on November 2, 2026. While a confirmed public exploit is not yet present on known repositories, the flaw is generating discussion on social networks in the last 24 hours, indicating awareness within attacker communities. The absence of a structured exploit should not create false confidence: the mechanism is straightforward and the risk of rapid development is high.
Immediate actions for administrators: verify which CWP version is running in production; update to version 1.12 or later as soon as available; monitor access logs for anomalous patterns or unauthenticated attempts to access the user panel; if the update cannot be performed immediately, implement firewall/WAF rules to restrict panel access to authorized IP addresses; disable the service if not strictly required until patching.
Control Web Panel is a hosting management software widely used by small and medium-sized businesses. Authentication bypass exposes the hosting infrastructure directly to control. It is essential to communicate to the security and infrastructure team with maximum urgency, coordinating patch rollout according to your change management process.
At a glance
- What
- Execution-after-redirect vulnerability in CWPUserIndex authentication flow that allows authentication bypass by exploiting missing exit() call after redirect. Unauthenticated attackers can continue PHP execution beyond the redirect, reaching functionality requiring authentication.
- Severity
- CVSS 9.1 - Maximum criticality
- Affected versions
- Control Web Panel before webpanel_version 1.12
- Fix
- Update to version 1.12 or later
- Status
- Published NVD 2026-11-02, initial social network discussion, no confirmed public exploit in available data
- Action
- Verify installed version, update urgently, monitor access logs for exploitation attempts. If update is delayed implement WAF/IP access controls; disable service if not strictly required until patching.
