Severity
The CVSS score indicates the theoretical impact of a vulnerability. On its own it is not enough: a critical CVE on an unreachable system can rank below a medium one on a public service.

A CVE is the public identifier of a vulnerability. A public exploit means exploitation is already within anyone's reach. Priority comes from combining severity, exploit availability and the real exposure of the system.
The CVSS score indicates the theoretical impact of a vulnerability. On its own it is not enough: a critical CVE on an unreachable system can rank below a medium one on a public service.
When a public exploit exists on ExploitDB or in third-party repositories, the risk of exploitation grows. It is the signal that moves a vulnerability to the top of the remediation queue.
What matters is where the vulnerable component runs and who can reach it. A penetration test verifies this in the field, not only in a database.
